Better Your Business is a local marketing firm with two goals for your business:  To create an awareness where there isn’t one & to upstage your competition.  Through social media management, customized marketing plans, and public relations we will absolutely help you better your business!

HBIC- Betters Businesses

Gillian Bura, originally hailing from Northern Virginia, came to Hampton Roads to attend Old Dominion University where she got a degree in Communications & Marketing.  She fell so in love with the area that she decided not to leave after graduation.  With a few marketing jobs after college nothing was the perfect fit.  After lots of success managing social media for a friend’s business Gillian decided to start a company where she could manage social media for lots of companies at once…then was born, Better Your Business in February of 2011! Her company took off quickly (landing her on the Hampton Roads Business Journal’s “Top 40 Under 40” list in 2012) and has continued to grow successfully through the years.

When Gillian isn’t busy bettering businesses she spends her free time with friends and family (she even convinced her parents & sister to move to the beach)!  She serves as the President of the Tidewater Pi Beta Phi Alumnae Club, a member of the Peninsula Home & Builder’s Association, Central Business District Association, and Old Dominion University Alumni Association.  Her favorite hobbies include tennis, anything beach related and traveling.

Web Guru- Betters Online Presence

Nick Bradshaw, a fellow Northern Virginia native, attended James Madison University where he earned his degree in Interactive Media from the School of Media Arts and Design (SMAD). Throughout his time as a student, he interned for a government contractor in the Northern Virginia area, ultimately taking on full time employment after graduation. His creative roots and wild imagination left him wanting more, and he eventually decided to supplement his full-time job with freelance graphic and web design. From website development and social media management to wedding and graduation announcements, he had no issue finding clients and continually made them happy with his simple yet professional design principles and punctual product delivery. He is proficient in HTML5 and CSS3 coding languages, CMS development (WordPress, Joomla, and Drupal), and the entire Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, Dreamweaver, and Flash).

In March of 2013, Nick moved to the Virginia Beach area following a work opportunity in with a new government contractor. Once again, he found himself seeking out avenues to showcase his creative talent. In the process of searching for design opportunities, Nick and Gillian crossed paths through a mutual friend and realized their skillsets complemented eachother very well. From there forward, the two have worked together to help better businesses in the Hampton Roads area.
